Thing Domain Data Model for DMS

Using Thing Domain Data Model you can create and manage the core components of your data. The model definition template in Excel format helps you to manage the definitions of entities, attributes, relationships and other properties of thing domain mastered in the application.

Worksheets in Thing Base Data Model Template

The following table indicates the worksheets present in Thing Domain Data Model, using which entities, attributes, relationships and other properties can be defined:

Worksheets Description
Metadata This worksheet provides general information on Thing Domain Data Model and allows you to select the worksheets to be processed, on importing the Thing Domain Data Model.
Entities This worksheet allows you to define entities and properties of the entities defined.
Entities Locale This worksheet allows you to manage entities across various locales.
Attributes This worksheet allows you to define attributes and properties of the attributes defined.
Attributes Locale Attributes Locale worksheet allows you to manage attributes across various locales.
Relationships Relationships worksheet allows you to define relationships and properties of the relationships defined.
Relationships Locale Relationships Locale worksheet allows you to manage relationships across various locales.
E-A-R Model E-A-R Model worksheet allows you to map attributes and relationships to different entities.
E-C Model E-C Model worksheet allows you to define contexts and various other properties of the contexts defined.
Variant Model Variant Model worksheet allows you to define a relationship through parent and child entities at different levels. This worksheet also allows you to define the variants of a parent entity type based on the attribute value defined in the base data model.

Create Multiple Suppliers via Data model

To create multiple suppliers via data model:

  1. On the navigation menu, click Quick Actions > Thing Domain.

  2. Click Download All.
    Result: The Entity data model file is downloaded.

  3. Open the downloaded entity data model file and click Entities sheet.

Result: The Entities sheet is displayed.

  1. Enter the details of the new supplier and save the excel file.

  1. On the navigation menu, click Search Suppliers.

    Result: The Search page is displayed.

  2. Click the Upload icon.

Result: The Upload Bulk Entities dialog box is displayed.

  1. Click on the Upload File button and select the updated bulk entity upload file from your local system or drag and drop the entity file.

  1. Click Show task details.

Result: The Entity Data Import task is shows successful.

  1. Navigate to the Search Suppliers page and click the Refresh icon.

Result: The newly created entities are displayed.

Map attributes via Base Data Model

To create attributes via base data model:

  1. On the navigation menu, click on Configurations > Thing Data Domain Model.

Result: The Thing Data Domain Model page is displayed.

  1. In the Upload or Download Thing Domain Model widget, click the Download button.

Result: The Download Model page is displayed.

  1. Expand the Select Entity Types accordion and perform any of the following.
    1. Click ">>" to move the values in batches of 100 from the Available column to the Selected column.
    2. Click ">" to move the selected values from the Available column to the Selected column.
    3. Click "<" to move the selected values from the Selected column to the Available column.
    4. Click "<<" to move all the values from the Selected column to the Available column.

Note:

You can also choose the required Locales, Attributes, and Relationships.

  1. Click Download All.

  1. Click Show Task Details.

  1. Once the task is completed successfully, click the Download icon to download the file to your local system.

  1. Open the downloaded Base Data Model Excel file.

  2. Click the Entities sheet to view out-of-the-box (OOTB) entity types [Supplier and Plant].

  1. Click the Attribute sheet and enter the following details.

  1. Click the E-A-R Model sheet and enter the following details and save the excel file.

  1. On the Thing Data Domain Model page, upload the updated Base Data Model by dragging or dropping the file or by clicking the Upload file button.

  1. Click on Show task details.

Result: The Base Data Model Import task is displayed. The base data model is uploaded successfully.

To validate:

  1. On the Thing Data Domain Model page, click the Refresh icon in the Summary Model widget.

  1. Click on View Details link corresponding to the Attribute Model.

Result: The Search page displays a list of all the attributes.
